Ring of FireTHUNDER BAY – Business Now – On Wednesday, February 15, 2012, the North Superior Workforce Planning Board in partnership with the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Corporation will host a one-day forum on employment and training within the mining sector. This forum is a follow-up to a report the Planning Board will release in early February that will look at the labour market supply and demand within mining over the next 2, 5, and 10 years.

Along with a detailed presentation on this report, the forum will consist of keynote presentations on three thriving areas of mining in our region: exploration, production, and supply and services businesses.

In addition, workshops will be held on topics such as: trades in mining, women in mining, transferable skills, environmental careers in mining, First Nations in mining, careers in prospecting, and many others.

There will also be a Trade Show component offering booths on employment and training within mining as well as some of the mining companies in the area.

The forum will be held at the Best Western Plus Nor’Wester Hotel and Conference Centre.
