Thunder Mountain Singers recording new album in Black River Falls Wisconsin this weekend

THUNDER BAY – Hoka! The Thunder Mountain Singers were in Black River Falls Wisconsin this weekend. The award winning group were recording their latest album, Where The Thunder Birds Fly. Dave Simard shares, “Thanks to Brandon Winneshiek, P-Dub Productions and the people of Black River Falls Ho-Chunk Nation for their great hospitality and support of our drum group Thunder Mountain Singers”.

The Thunder Mountain Singers are “Sharing Our way of Life with all races on Mother Earth”. The Thunder Mountain Singers received their drum name from the late Margaret Pierre from Fort William First Nation. It was her vision that through the drum the First Nation youth would return to their traditional culture. The Thunder Mountain Singers continue to the share their traditional teachings and songs with the youth.

In 2010 the Thunder Mountain Singers were recognised when they won the Aboriginal People’s Choice Awards in the Best Group of Dou category

The singers on the Thunder Mountain Singers 2012 album ” Where the Thunder Birds Fly” are: Clement Gustafson, Owen Gustafson, Ryan Gustafson, Dave Simard, Dakota Meshake, Kevin Porter, Bruce Meeseetawageesic, Chris Meeseetawageesic, and Talon Bird.
