Innovation and Social Media Boosting Lakehead University

Lakehead UniversityTHUNDER BAY – Lakehead University has always been innovative and creative. As a smaller university, attracting students to the Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses has taken that extra effort. This year, Lakehead University is taking to Youtube as a means of offering information about programs at the educational facility.

It is through innovation that Lakehead is increasingly becoming a more rounded and attractive facility for students from not only Thunder Bay but around the world.

This use of the Internet, includes social media with a presence on Facebook. In addition, Lakehead University offers prospective students the opportunity for online chat sessions.

In the ever competitive academic world, the efforts by Lakehead University are allowing LU to punch far above its weight. Last year, Lakehead University attracted students from over forty different countries to attend and take classes.

The strategy that Lakehead is taking has, over the past several years, at times been a little edgy and controversial. Several years ago, the “Yale-Smale” ad campaign garnered international attention. The results were positive for Lakehead, as student enrolment increased.

Moving into greater use of social media, including Youtube is likely to assist Lakehead University in both acceptance and growth. Of course as the Lakehead Thunderwolves continue to win, that won’t hurt things either.
