THUNDER BAY – With the threat of the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society closing, a group of animal lovers have united to throw a fundraising bash on December 10, 2011. The purpose of the event is to assist in raising funds to allow the TBDHS to continue to serve our community. The TBDHS is home to hundreds of unwanted animals who are seeking a home.
The fundraiser will take place on Saturday December 10th, from 8pm to 2am at the Westfort Tavern. The event will include: live DJ, live belly dancing, food, and prizes. Tickets are $3 in advance or $5 at the door with all proceeds going to the TBDHS. The goal of the evening will be to collect donations, increase awareness of the TBDHS, and motivate our local citizens to sign up for PADS for PAWS. The PADS for PAWS is a monthly giving program that allows donors to donate a sum that they are comfortable with. The TBDHS recently reported that to avoid closure, 1500 local resident would be required to donate $10 a month. Each person who signs up for the program at the event will be entered into a draw for great prizes. This is a 19+ event.
If you are unable to attend the fundraising event, there are other ways to support the TBDHS by purchasing tickets, making donations, signing up for the monthly giving plan (available on the TBDHS website), post flyers at your workplace, volunteer your time, donate employee dress down funds to the TBDHS, and most of all please pass on the information to others.
