THUNDER BAY – Is your version of “economic stimulus” your frequent long weekend shopping trip to Duluth or Minneopolis? If it is, you are missing out on the amazing small business sector here in Thunder Bay. Maybe it is time you took the pledge.
Take the Pledge – “I will shop local Thunder Bay small businesses”
As you drive your dollars south, you are also driving our local economy down. It is just that simple. There are a myriad of hard working local business people who are making it their mission in life to offer you the best customer service possible, along with a growing selection of products.
By shopping locally, not only are you supporting your local economy, but you are helping Thunder Bay move forward.
As “exciting” as your trips to Miller Hill Mall, or Mall of the Americas might be, you are missing out on some of the local shops that likely have the same products you end up dragging home.
Ah, but you can save money you say. Really? By the time you factor in the hotel bills, and gasoline, chances are that five or ten dollars you think you saved are actually five or ten dollars more on the same item.
Sure its great to have a vacation, and certainly Thunder Bay thrives on the tourists who come here, but for many local residents, the idea of shopping local shops seems to have been missed.
Here is a challenge for you. Take the pledge. Visit Shop Small Business Thunder Bay and pledge that you will shop locally this Christmas. Pledge that you will seek out the locally owned businesses in our city to discover the amazing products, service and style that is Thunder Bay.
Your local economy will benefit, and once you get yourself out of the big box store you will likely have more fun too!
