RIM Reports “BlackBerry services are operating well globally”

THUNDER BAY – Blackberry is claiming victory over the problems which have hammered customers and their Blackberry Wireless devices. Research in Motion states, “BlackBerry services are operating well globally. BlackBerry Support teams continue to monitor the situation around the clock to ensure ongoing service stability. Some customers in Canada and Latin America who are sending messages to other regions may see intermittent message delays. Support teams are actively addressing this”.

The real issue might be that after almost a week of problem, business critics and analysts are stating that RIM’s problems are not only with the computer problem, but deeper into the executive suite and some are pointing fingers at the top executives for not getting out ahead of this problem with a solid communications plan.

It was only this morning that the company issued a Youtube video from RIM Founder and Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis.

Communications early in the problem were not consistent, and left many customers in the dark.

For a Canadian company that has taken such leadership over time in the wireless device market, this latest incident could prove a turning point. Will the company move forward from this successfully or will this incident damage the long-term success of Research in Motion?

Only time will tell.
