LU Volleyball Winless in Winnipeg on Saturday

ThunderwolvesWINNIPEG, MB – Lakehead lost both of it’s Saturday matches at the Lea Marc Volleyball Challenge, 3-2 to Brandon (25-20, 15-25, 26-24, 22-25, 9-15) and 3-0 to Toronto (20-25, 17-25, 18-25).

Brandon Game Recap: Lakehead loses the second place showdown with the Brandon Bobcats. Lakehead was led once again by Jorie Daymond with 16 pts, Michelle Cournoyer with 12 points, Claire Morrison with 8 points, and Sara Hudson delivered 51 assists. Breanne Hilhorst lead LU with 17 digs in the losing affair.

Toronto Game Recap: Lakehead lost the 5th place semifinal to Toronto in a preview of their OUA season opener later this month. The match was played 40 mins after a tough 5 set loss to Brandon. Leading the Thunderwolves with points was Jenna Gunter with 11. Sara Hudson posted 29 assists.

LU coach Chris Green was less than pleased with a sub par response after their match with Brandon. “I give full credit to Toronto for playing hard to win. We seemed to feel we could just play, and not find it in ourselves to rise above adversity. We need to show more pride than that. Now we will focus on Regina tomorrow morning.”
