THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay’s Confederation College’s increased outreach to international markets has proven highly successful this semester. Sixty-three students from around the world, are now enrolled, and participating in a number of programs.
Students from locales like China, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam are drawn to Confederation College for its wide variety of programs including Electrical Engineering, Dental Assisting, International Business and Trade, Hospitality Management and Accounting, just to name a few.
These students will be participating in a workshop on “Culture Shock” on Monday as part of an extended orientation. Hosted by the Director of International Education, Miriam Wall, students will learn about the process of settling into a new culture and community. They will have the opportunity to share experiences and gain tips and advice on how to ensure a successful transition from life in their home country to life in Canada.
The experiences these students take back to their home countries have the ability to raise Thunder Bay, and Northwestern Ontario’s profile in the world.
