THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – The Thunder Bay Police Service have arrested a 20-year old male and charged the individual with Robbery; and Use of a Disguise during the commission of an offence, after responding to a 911 call to a northside convenience store at approx 9:30PM last night. The suspect, wearing a mask and brandishing a knife, demanded money from staff. He then fled the store empty-handed.
The quick response to the robbery that just occurred by uniform officers, Canine and Detectives resulted in the suspect being located several blocks from the store. Based on the description provided by staff, the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The knife and mask were also located in the area.
With further investigation from the Criminal Investigation Branch, the suspect will also be charged with a similar robbery that occurred on Sept 20th, around the same time frame and in close vicinity to last nights’ incident.
The 20-year old male will be appearing in court this morning to answer to the charges. No one was injured in either of the incidents.
