Stand off ends – No Injuries, Charges Pending

Waterloo/ Brunswick StandoffTHUNDER BAY – The stand-off which started this morning at about 9:00AM has come to an end. Thunder Bay Police report, “A 53 year old Brunswick Street North man is in custody following a standoff in the city’s south side today. The incident began at around 9:00 a.m. after city bylaw officers attempted to conduct a clean up of the man’s property which was located in the 200 block of Brunswick Street North. It is alleged that the man became agitated and brandished a shotgun before he withdrew into his home.

The area around Brunswick Street North and Waterloo Street was contained. A command post was set up and officers deployed including the Emergency Task Unit. Police negotiators made contact with the man who was in the house with a female. The suspect surrendered to police at approximately 2:30 p.m. No one was injured in this incident.

The Criminal Investigations Branch will now continue the investigation and charges are pending.
