THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay NDP candidates, Mary Kozorys, Thunder Bay Atikokan and Steve Mantis, Thunder Bay Superior North have launched a website featuring NDP leader Andrea Horwath’s northern debate challenge to Dalton McGuinty.
While the PC Leader Tim Hudak and the NDP Leader Andrea Howath have both agreed to a September 23rd debate in Thunder Bay, the Liberal Leader and Premier Dalton McGuinty has not agreed.
The NDP website is www.respectforthenorth.ca
The NDP and PC candidates alike are complaining over what they say is a Premier and Liberal Party who really do not care about the North.
“Northern families deserve to hear provincial leaders discuss the issues that matter to them. We hope McGuinty will break his silence and agree to a northern debate so northerners know exactly where each leader stands,” said Kozorys.
“For New Democrats, part of Respect for the North means a debate among party leaders in the North,” said Steve Mantis, NDP candidate for Thunder Bay-Superior North.
Earlier today in Thunder Bay PC candidates Anthony LeBlanc, Thunder Bay Superior North, and Dr. Fred Gilbert, Thunder Bay Atikokan announced that PC Leader Tim Hudak would participate in the Debate.
“Dalton McGuinty has grown so out of touch that he actually thought he could get away with launching his northern platform in North Toronto. Tim Hudak was a minister of northern development and mines who listened to northern Ontario families, he still listens and he is ready, willing and able to bring our need for change and plan for Northern Ontario,” said Leblanc.
“After weeks of negotiating with the Liberals and NDP, I am pleased to announce Tim Hudak is taking part in a leaders debate in the North. Northern Ontario families couldn’t help but feel a little taken for granted when Dalton McGuinty stopped in North Toronto to launch his northern platform. Dalton McGuinty needs to come to the North and explain his tax grabs and energy policies which have cost northern families their jobs,” said Gilbert.
NetNewsledger.com is planning to live-stream the Northern Ontario Leader’s Debate.
