Makoons or Little Bear Needs Your Love and Help

Makoons or Little BearTHUNDER BAY – Makoons, also known as ‘Little Bear’ in his native language, was found on a Northern Canadian Reserve neglected and abused. He was tied to the back of a broken down pick up truck with no water or food available to him.

Makoons is estimated to be about 3 months old, weighing in at roughly 4lbs.

He is emaciated with all of his ribs and hip bones showing, but the worst of all is the fact that he has a severe eye infection and we’re not even sure if he has an eye. As of 09/01/2011 he has been flown to Thunder Bay, ON, Canada from the reserve to receive treatment and eventually find a forever home.

Makoons or Little BearA message from Local Dog Rescue: Makoons is definitely going to need vet care as his eye is still swollen shut. Best case scenario, he’ll just need some antibiotics and time to heal. Worst case, the eye may require surgery or to be removed completely. I can’t really answer any other questions or make any promises to anyone until he sees a vet. All I really can tell you is he is an absolute sweetheart and has already made himself at home amongst all the other dogs here!

It is looking more and more like all the eye will need is antibiotics.
