THUNDER BAY – “I would like to thank Chairman Virdiramo and the entire Police Services Board for their confidence in my abilities to become the Chief of this outstanding organization. I look forward to a cooperative and respectful relationship with the Board, City Council, Senior City Administration and the members of the Thunder Bay Police Service.

I believe that by staying inside for their selection the Board has affirmed their recognition of the quality work being done by the men and women of the Thunder Bay Police Service. We will continue to strive for our common goal of a safer community and will do so in the most efficient and effective manner afforded to us with the staff and resources available.

We are fortunate to have a police service that we can truly call our own. It is my hope that we can continue to engage all of our citizens and work together to face our challenges head on. As Chief of Police, I am confident that all of our members are dedicated to protecting and serving all members of our community.

Policing is one of the corner stones of our society but safe communities are not just the responsibility of the police alone. As Chief of your police service I am committed to working in cooperation with our fellow policing agencies and community partners in enforcement, education and crime prevention initiatives. Further I will continue to support the efforts of other organizations and groups in their strategies of crime prevention through social programs, development and environmental design.

One of our first priorities will be to establish a 3 year Business Plan. This plan will set the priorities and object of our service and will be established along with the Board, Senior Police management and front line staff along with input from community members and groups.

In closing I would like to say that I look forward the challenge ahead and will strive to deliver quality leadership to our service and the greater community.”

J.P. Levesque – Chief of Police
