THUNDER BAY – Northern Credit Union is celebrating the Grand Opening of its new Thunder Bay branch. The festivities will span two days with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 28, and a block party, open to the public, on Wednesday, June 29.
“The new Arthur Street branch represents all the conveniences of modern banking and service, based on the growing needs of our members,” said Al Suraci, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northern Credit Union. “We have always been committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, and the ability to celebrate our grand opening with a local fundraiser is particularly meaningful to us.”
Northern’s new branch is centrally located at 560 Arthur Street West and replaces the Frederica Street branch. The facility continues to support the West Fort area and includes a drive-through ATM and extended hours, providing services Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

- Northern’s Board Chair, Mac Davidson, and Vice President, Sales & Service, Tony Dunham, will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with local, provincial and federal politicians. Attendees will include business and community leaders and Northern Credit Union members and staff.
Wednesday, June 29: Member Block Party – 560 Arthur Street West
11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- The Member Block Party will include a BBQ, refreshments, a photo booth and an opportunity to meet and mingle with Northern Credit Union’s management, Board of Directors and staff. All proceeds from the photo booth will support Special Olympics Ontario.
