THUNDER BAY – It sounds like those plans to start swinging your golf clubs, or enjoying some outdoor spring weather will have to be put on hold. Environment Canada advises that a low pressure system that is developing over Missouri Friday afternoon is expected to move through the Great Lakes region this weekend. The current forecast track of the system indicates that areas west and north of Lake Superior could receive significant snow amounts from this storm.
The snow will start in the Thunder Bay area overnight with the bulk of the snow falling by late Saturday afternoon. Total accumulations are expected to be in the 15 to 25 cm range. For the areas to the north and northeast of Lake Superior the snow will begin Saturday morning with the heavier snow continuing into late Saturday evening. Total accumulations are expected to be in the 20 to 30 cm range.
The late season snowfall will likely impact travel, with roads being slippery. It would also be a good idea if you are travelling by air or bus to contact them to ensure that they are on time.
