THUNDER BAY – Both personal and business travel are up at the Thunder Bay International Airport. TBIA continued its 2010 growth trend by posting record

passenger volumes in the first two months of 2011. Year to date growth in passengers grew by 2.4%. During the months of January and February 107,405 passengers arrived and departed compared to 104,854 in 2010.

Thunder Bay International Airport posted record passenger volumes in 2010 with 691,476 total passengers representing a 6% increase in volumes over 2009.

Scott McFadden, President & CEO of the Thunder Bay International Airports Authority (TBIAA) attributes the continued growth to a number of factors including the strengthening local economy, the heavy locally-hosted convention schedule, the Ontario Winter Special Olympics and the wide variety of winter charter options available this year.

Customers are encouraged to visit the Airport website at www.thunderbayairport.com for more information including this winter’s sun flights.
