THUNDER BAY – The City of Thunder Bay, in partnership with Lakehead University Student Union is hosting “Winterize Your Bike” workshops. The next workshop in the series will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Lakehead University in the University Centre Room 1017 from 6 to 8 pm. This workshop will address cycling safety in the winter months and how best to dress for cold weather cycling. Other topics will include safe riding techniques and bicycle maintenance when temperatures are low.

“Lots of people like to cycle all year, but many may not have had the chance to learn about riding safely in winter or dressing for the conditions,” said Adam Krupper, Active Transportation Coordinator and workshop facilitator. “I’m really happy Lakehead’s Student Union approached me about providing the workshops. People are riding – let’s help them do it safely.”

The workshops are designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to ride safely. “Elysia Petrone, Lakehead University Student Union Sustainability Commissioners says “Lots of students are enthusiastic about riding their bikes all year round. There is both interest and a need for this type of workshop.”

All interested cyclists are welcome to attend. The workshop is free and open to everyone.
