Think Safety with Christmas packages

City Hall Thunder BayTHUNDER BAY – That new television, computer, or other major electronics you received for Christmas is something that you likely want to keep safe. One way to ensure that is in how you decide to dispose of the box it came in.

If you use that box for a garbage container, and put it out for the weekly collection, you are taking a risk. Thieves seeing the box outside your home may use that information as a shopping list for a future robbery.

To keep your new electronics safer, you can cut up the box so that it fits in a smaller re-cycling container. That way it is far less obvious, and therefore safer.

It was a quiet Christmas according to Thunder Bay Police. That is a welcome relief, but it is also not a time to let down your guard.
