NIPIGON – Lake Superior Discovery Place Inc. (LSDP) has been invited by Nipigon Mayor Richard Harvey to make a presentation to the Nipigon Town Council to explore the idea of locating LSDP in Nipigon.
Nipigon has identified a potential site for a Lake Superior Multi-Purpose Facility on its waterfront. The announcement of the creation of Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area was an important consideration in the LSDP Board’s decision to explore the idea of locating in Nipigon. LSDP could act as the project champion, bringing partners to the table and helping to leverage funding, while the Township of Nipigon would support the project as a leading partner.
This invitation is an exciting opportunity for LSDP to partner with a Municipality that is willing to implement the project in a timely manner. The values of the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area fit well with the vision of the Lake Superior Discovery Place, and LSDP is hopeful that such strong common interests could yield partnership opportunities in the future. LSDP looks forward to exploring with community members and other potential partners their interests in such a facility.
A presentation by LSDP President, Laura Fralick and Advisory Council Chair, Anne Turcotte will be held in the Nipigon Council Chambers on Tuesday, December 21st at 7:00 p.m.
