Nipigon Prepares for Canadian Cancer Society Fundraiser

Nipigon Cancer FundraiserNIPIGON – Special to NNL – The Nipigon Red Rock Canadian Cancer Society has been a very active group in the past few years, particularly focusing on fundraiser events, and displaying a number of information booths. As Branch President, and a cancer survivor, participating as an active volunteer for the charity organization has been an awesome experience.

What stands out the most about my involvement with volunteering, is simply not knowing who it is, and who is not a cancer survivor, by being actively involved, it has allowed me an opportunity to meet and greet persons focusing on the fight on cancer as well as “taking time to talk” about the simple things in life “how’s your coffee” & “so what are you up to today”.

Throughout the years, we’ve organized a number of fundraiser events, including two Jail’ N Bails, Fundraiser Dance & Silent Auction, a Special reserved table at East Side Mario’s, and Meet ‘n Greet with the Sears Kids ride for Cancer twice.

Having said all that, I personally am now will no longer be involved with the Branch directly as President. However I do wish that our goal to establish a branch executive council ensuring the community’s awareness of the Canadian Cancer Society local presence.
