THUNDER BAY – Shy-Anne Hovorka has won the Aboriginal People’s Choice Award for Female Entertainer of the Year at the Awards Show in Winnipeg, Manitoba last night.
The Northwestern Ontario musician also won the Producer of the Year award the previous evening.
“I can’t believe I’m coming home with 2 awards!! Female Aboriginal Entertainer of the Year and Best Produced!!! I’m still digesting the reality. Thanks so much for voting for us… Peace and Love to you all!” enthused Shy-Anne.
The Thunder Mountain Singers, from Thunder Bay also won last night. The group won the Best Pow Wow CD Traditional.
At Lakehead University on Friday, as new University President Brian Stevenson was being sworn in, Shy-Anne’s video “Can’t Change the World” was played, and the new President’s speech was on how universities can change the world.
The Award for Entertainer of the Year marks the growing acceptance that Shy-Anne is garnering from her growing fan base.
