“The levy will NOT be on the property tax bill in 2011…” Rydholm

THUNDER BAY – I am writing this clarification because some election candidates seem confused about the hospital tax – and/or they are trying to confuse the voters.

The 10 year hospital tax levy ends in 2010.  The levy will NOT be on the property tax bill in 2011 – a savings of 2.2 percent.

Despite encouragement from City Administration to continue the 2.2% charge on taxes and dedicate the money collected for capital projects, no one from City Council supported it – especially without a plebiscite from the people.

Thank you for this opportunity to correct/clarify what some election candidates have said or written.
