THUNDER BAY – Wasaya Airways LP are pleased to announce the expansion of their current fleet of 24 aircraft to include the operation of a Bombardier Dash 8.
Wasaya Airways has presented this new addition which further diversifies their current fleet. At this time the Dash 8 model, with a passenger capacity of 50, will be used to provide transportation for employees to and from Wasaya’s launch customer Goldcorp’s Musselwhite mine site. This is one of many steps in Wasaya Airway’s development plan. At a later date Wasaya plans to include additional Dash 8 aircraft which will have a 37 passenger seat configuration. The additional Dash 8 will be used for Wasaya’s regular scheduled passenger
and cargo service routes.
The inclusion of the Dash 8 aircraft will demonstrate Wasaya’s further commitment to the advancement of opportunities for Northern communities. Wasaya Airway’s President Tom Morris states that “the addition of the Dash 8’s allow us to fulfill our earnest commitment to the development of economic opportunities for remote communities throughout Northern Ontario”.
Morris further accentuates that “the second Dash 8 aircraft will be a more efficient way for communities to receive superb passenger and cargo services in unison”. Typically Wasaya utilizes the Hawker Siddeley 748 for cargo in addition to the Raytheon Beech B1900D for passenger services. The new Dash 8 models will be able to accommodate up to 37 passengers in addition to cargo, proving to be more efficient and convenient for Wasaya clientele.
