THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead Express Soccer Club (LEX) are hosting their annual competitive team Awards Banquet this Saturday, September 11th, 2010. The event will take place at the Knights of Columbus Centre, and will be high-lighted by an awards ceremony and a presentation from former LEX player and Canadian Olympic Hockey Gold Medalist, Katie Weatherston.
Each competitive team will present an award for Most Valuable Player, and a Coaches Award to recognize the efforts of the players from the 2009/2010 Indoor and Outdoor seasons. The Claire Fraser Award will be presented to a player from the senior girl’s team who most exemplified the attributes of the former LEX player who passed away August 22, 2004 (http://www.clairefraserfoundation.com), and has graduated from the club this past summer. Weatherston will be speaking to the players of the club on “What it takes to be a Champion”.
The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m. (EDT) and will follow the schedule below.
