THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Italia Juventus and Thunder Bay Chill Reserves played to a 2-2 in the first of two games in the Premier Soccer League of Thunder Bay (PSL) playoff finals.
Juventus forward, Skander Babay, scored the only goal in the first half, chipping Reserve keeper Cristian Pilat in the 42nd minute, giving his team a 1-0 lead going into halftime. After Juventus had several chances, the Reserves got a break when in the 48th minute Juventus defender James Lucas scored an own goal on a clearing attempt, to tie the game 1-1. Juventus took a 2-1 lead, when Jon Potvin beat three defenders and then the keeper in the 57th minute. Iggy Osmulski played hero for the Reserves when he headed in a cross in the 76th minute, to tie the game at 2-2.
The two teams will play the second game of the two game, total goal series, on Sunday, August 29th, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. (EDT) at Chapples Park (Field 4). If the total score of the two games is tied at the end of 90 minutes on Sunday, the game will go into overtime, and if no goals are scored, penalty kicks. The winner will be crowned Playoff Champion and lift the Regiment Cup trophy.
