THUNDER BAY – The members of Team Canada’s 18U baseball team, in town for the 2010 IBAF World Junior Baseball Championship, will be making a special effort to reach out to their many fans on Thursday, July 29.

From 11 a.m. – noon, team members will be in the Promotions Court (near Moxie’s) at Intercity Shopping Centre to meet fans, sign autographs and talk about their hopes and plans for the upcoming days of the championship.  Volunteers will be on hand, as well, to sell general admission tickets to tournament games along with souvenir programs and score cards.

Greg Hamilton, Head Coach of Team Canada said “Whenever you have the opportunity to play in a world championship at home it is extra special. The fan support here in Thunder Bay has been outstanding and we look forward to this opportunity to further connect with the very hospitable people of Thunder Bay who have a clear passion for baseball.”

Team Canada pitcher Tom Robson added “We are all really enjoying the baseball experience here in Thunder Bay. The people are all really behind us and the atmosphere at the park is great. This is certainly the biggest and most exciting time in baseball for me and wearing the Canadian uniform here in Thunder Bay makes it even more meaningful.”

Team Canada was 2-1 in round robin play as of Monday after a thrilling 5-4 win over defending tournament champion South Korea.
