THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Chill (11-1-1) extended their unbeaten streak to ten games with a 2-0 victory over the Real Colorado Foxes on Friday night at Chapples. Andrew Marinez led the way with a pair of goals on either side of halftime, to give the Chill their sixth straight win. Chill Goalkeeper Steve Paterson recorded his fifth shutout of the season with the win.
Marinez imposed himself early on the Foxes, scoring in the 16th minute, assisted by Sicelo Buthelezi. The Chill created most of the offensive chances in the game, but were unable to add to their lead till the 67th minute when Marinez scored a wonder goal from the edge of the box, assisted by Gustavo Oliviera.
Andrew Marinez was pleased with his teams performance, but emphasized that now is not the time for complacency. “We need to keep winning and not let up, keep everything on the gas. No ties, no losses, no goals against. People need to fear the Thunder Bay Chill,” said Marinez.
It was not all good news for the Chill, as Captain Wilson Neto was knocked out the game in the 6th minute with a concussion.
The Chill continues the weekend series against the Foxes tomorrow; Saturday, July 17th, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. (EDT) at Chapples Park.
