“I can’t wait to show it to you once I’m done,” concluded Dwira.

The City of Thunder Bay, in conjunction with many of the companies working on video, and film production launched a new website to outline the potential of the City of Thunder Bay as a site for film.

The website offers information about the local film community and focuses on reducing up front scouting and research time for people who are interested in filming in and around Thunder Bay and region. The website also showcases a vast indoor and outdoor photo/video gallery and a production resource directory.

“This site will help grow a developing economic sector of our community by providing potential film and television investors access to a broad inventory of filming locations as well as information about the quality technical services, products and resources our local suppliers can provide” said the Honourable Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry and Chair of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

The site’s directory provides the end-user with access to information on a variety of companies based in Thunder Bay and region that supply goods and services to the film industry. The directory provides comprehensive contact information for the companies and is web-linked to corporate websites.

“As part of the CEDC’s Strategic Action Plan, we’ve diligently advocated the growth of film and multimedia productions in Thunder Bay” said Steve Demmings, CEO – CEDC. “The growth of this industry addresses the larger issue of attracting and retaining a young knowledge-based workforce for our community.”
