THUNDER BAY – Moonlight Melodrama was a popular draw at Chippewa Park a number of decades ago and people still talk about it with fondness. This summer Rob McLeod Capitol Players are bringing Melodrama back to the Chippewa with the New Moon Production of “A Streetcar Named Chippewa” by T. T. Lucky.
The play takes place in the community of Chippewa in the 1920’s where the evil villain Angus LaFungus arrives and begins plotting to steal the proceeds from a play the good people of Chippewa are putting on to raise money for streetcar service to Westfort…and beyond. Will he succeed and ruin Amanda Love’s chance at fame and happiness in (gasp!) Tronna?
Come once again and sigh for the heroine, boo the villain and cheer for the hero as you enjoy an old-time Melodrama that is fun for the whole family.
The play will be presented in the Chippewa Park Pavilion on Sunday afternoons at 3:30 PM or Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM. Tickets are only $5.00 at the door (children under 5 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult).
Performance dates are:
Sunday: June 20, July 4, 11, 18 & 25; and
Thursday: July 8, 15 & 22.
