Math Contest at Lakehead University Adds Up!

THUNDER BAY – Math is adding up for students from across Northwestern Ontario and beyond. On Wednesday, April 28, the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Lakehead University will host its 8th Annual TD Canada Trust Northwestern Ontario High School Mathematics Competition for local area high schools.

The competition has grown from 70 registered students from high schools across northwestern Ontario in 2003, to over 170 in the last two years.

For the first time this year, event organizers are pleased to welcome Orillia high schools on board to participate in the contest.

The day’s schedule includes:

8:30 – 9:15 a.m.   – Registration (RB 1042)
9:15 – 9:30 a.m.   – Welcome (RB 1042)
9:30 – 11:00 a.m.   – Individual contest (RB 1042)
11:00 – 11:15 a.m.   – Group Photo
11:20 – 12:15 p.m.   – Lunch at The Outpost
12:30 – 1:45 p.m.   – Team Contest (room assignments on door of RB 1042)
1:50 – 2:15 p.m.  – Awards Presentation for Individual Contest (RB 1042)
2:15 p.m.  – Students return to their schools
