THUNDER BAY – Confederation College and TBayTel announced a new relationship this morning, at a formal signing ceremony in the Dorion Building, of the Thunder Bay campus. This relationship enables Confederation College and TBayTel to identify, assess and implement innovative technologically assisted solutions that improve post secondary educational delivery in Northern Ontario.
“Working together for the success of our region is at the core of the relationship.” said Don Campbell, President & CEO TBayTel. “As in any relationship something is shared. This agreement represents the sharing of knowledge and expertise between Confederation College and TBayTel.”
“Confederation College is dedicated to the delivery of education and training throughout Northwestern Ontario.” said Pat Lang, President of Confederation College. “TBayTel’s knowledge of the North, its telecommunications capabilities and future technological advances, give Confederation College a view of expanded program delivery moving forward.”
Confederation College and TBayTel’s interest in the prosperity of Northwestern Ontario; their leadership position; and economic and social impact within the community; will be able to demonstrate that – by working together – the efforts can create opportunities for communities to expand their knowledge base, grow and create jobs in the North.
“TBayTel benefits directly from Confederation College. Our company employs a number of graduates from various College programs including Marketing, Human Resources and Engineering.” said Don Campbell. “Having well educated highly skilled employees is an important asset for our company.”
“The newly renovated Dorion Building and our newest REACH facility, currently under construction, are prime examples of the best use of technology to expand our role as educators here and in the region.” added Lang. “We view this relationship as a conduit to what lies ahead, anticipating and meeting the needs of the future workforce.”
This announcement marks a beginning and sets an example of how two organizations can come together with a common interest. Both parties have agreed that this relationship in no way inhibits a competitive process. The agreement between Confederation College and TBayTel is not a purchasing agreement but instead a principled statement that acknowledges by working together both can encourage and challenge each other to higher standards of excellence – to be a positive force in moving our region forward to economic prosperity today and for the future.
