THUNDER BAY – The water search on the Kaministiquia River related to the disappearance of Jordan Wabasse has concluded on Wednesday without any new results.
There is nothing new to report from today’s activities in the water search, according to the Thunder Bay Police Service. The O.P.P. Underwater Search and Recovery Unit will be back at the James Street Bridge location Thursday morning. Search operations are expected to commence after 9:00 a.m.
However, the Thunder Bay Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police and Ontario Power Generation wish to advise residents of dangerous ice conditions on the Kaministiquia River. Authorities are warning the public to stay off the ice river. The reason is that water flows on the river are being adjusted to support the search that is being conducted by Thunder Bay Police Services, and the Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
Fluctuating water levels and flows will result in unstable and dangerous ice conditions on the River. With recent warming weather conditions, these dangerous ice conditions will likely continue until the ice melts in the spring.
Searchers and volunteers are still needed at the new headquarters for the Search effort. The headquarters have moved to The Davinci Centre from the Travelodge Airlane. For people coming in from outlying areas, the address is 340 Waterloo St. South (Waterloo & Arthur).
Donations can be made at the Headquarters, or by direct deposit to the special account sent up to help the cause. Airfares and accomodations for the family are expensive and help is needed to keep the search and the support happening.
