Thunder Bay Police and OPP lay Child Pornography charges

Chief of Police JP LesvequeTHUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Thunder Bay police and the OPP have taken four Thunder Bay men into custody for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography. Search warrants were executed in Thunder Bay this week as part of the Provincial Strategy to deal with child exploitation and abuse.

These arrests resulted from a recent Internet investigation which involved the Ontario Provincial Police Child Sexual Exploitation Section, and the Thunder Bay Police Service Cyber Crime Unit.

The following persons have been charged:

26 year old Allan Wilbur Burkhart of Syndicate Avenue North, Thunder Bay

  • Accessing Child Pornography C.C. 163.1 (4.1);
  • Possessing Child Pornography (2 Counts) C.C. 163.1 (4);
  • Distributing Child Pornography C.C. 163.1 (3).

25 year old Justin David William Chabot of Athabasca Street, Thunder Bay

  • Accessing Child Pornography C.C. 163.1 (4.1);
  • Possessing Child Pornography (2 Counts) C.C. 163.1 (4);
  • Distributing Child Pornography C.C. 163.1 (3).

42 year old George Albert Korkola of Bernard Street, Thunder Bay

  • Accessing Child Pornography C.C. 163.1 (4.1);
  • Possessing Child Pornography (2 Counts) C.C. 163.1 (4).

19 year old Michael William Brown of Simpson Street, Thunder Bay

  • Accessing Child Pornography C.C. 163.1 (4.1);
  • Possessing Child Pornography (2 Counts) C.C. 163.1 (4).

Brown, Korkalo, and Burkhart appeared in court today. Chabot appeared in court yesterday.
