TbaytelTHUNDER BAY – For Tbaytel customers, the current upgrades to the service are causing a little frustration. However by the end of September, and then with continued upgrading through October, customers will be experiencing a far better, and faster service. Director of Corporate Communications Barry Streib says that “This week, all wireless customers will be receiving an update by mail explaining everything that is ongoing”.

The company has been working over the summer and especially since September 19th to upgrade service in Thunder Bay.

Part of the issue is that the company has been a victim of its own success. Growth since partnering with Rogers in a a strategic business relationship in March of 2010 led to issues with exceeding capacity, slow delivery of text messages, and other network problems. That was due to a major influx of new customers.

The company identified the concerns and has been designing, and engineering solutions for better service. “Lots of the input directly from customers has really helped,” commented Streib. Tbaytel has been working on upgrades, and during those upgrades there are times when service is not up to the usual standards. However, Streib says, “Customers will notice improvements very quickly”.

“I can’t thank our customers enough for their business, help, understanding and patience,” added Streib. One of the ways that customers can help is to share issues they are having with Tbaytel either by telephone, or by visiting the website.

Over the month of October, Tbaytel will continue work on improving wireless service in Thunder Bay. There will be new added antennas in the Confederation College, and South Edward Street areas as well as other locations in the city.

Additionally, there will be new cell sites installed in the Balmoral, William Street and Walkover Street areas of the city to further enhance service.

You can get regular updates from Tbaytel by visiting www.tbaytel.net, as well you can report any service issues online. Tbaytel advises that if you have an issue that you contact their customer service office at 807-623-4400.
